Police on Wednesday arrested a Hollister man on suspicion of setting two vehicles on fire near his prior home.
Police arrested Eugene Frankovic, 33, after connecting him to the fires that occurred earlier that day, according to Hollister police.
Firefighters responded to the 600 block of A Street for a report of two vehicles on fire and put them out before the blazes spread to the nearby home.
The fire marshal then determined the fires originated in the back of a pick-up truck and spread to another vehicle parked behind it. Hollister police developed leads and linked the suspected arson to the home’s previous resident, Frankovic.
He was booked at the San Benito County Jail with a recommended arson charge with bail set at $100,000, according to police.
The Hollister Police Department in its statement said it would like to thank the person who notified 911 of the fire.
“The fire could have been much worse had it not been for the watchful citizen,” according to police.
