In an effort to “crack down” on holiday drunken driving, the Hollister Police Department will set up a “DUI/Driver’s License’ checkpoint within the city limits on Friday, according to a statement released by the department.

The checkpoint will target “those who still don’t heed the message to designate a sober driver before their celebrations begin.”

Weather and traffic permitting, police will check all vehicles and those who are under the influence will be arrested, according to the statement.

A grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will fund the checkpoint.
