South Street intersection gets a makeover
South Street can be one of the roughest roads in Hollister to
drive, especially at some of its bumpy, rickety intersections. One
prime example is the intersection of South and West streets, which
has more than its fair share of potholes and cracks. David Rubcic,
a Hollister engineering official who oversees street repairs, noted
how that portion of the road is set for improvements as part of the
city’s street rehabilitation program. The timing is the only
question. It includes three phases, the first of which is
completed. Phases 2 and 3 are almost all set to go once funding
– which will trigger the timeliness of the projects – becomes
available. The South-West streets intersection is included in Phase
3. It calls for repairs to South Street from B Street to Sixth
Street, Rubcic said. There are about 20 roads among the Phase 3
projects.
