Resident frustrated with street work
A resident called the Pinnacle and complained about a road he
contends has been too rough for drivers ever since repairs were
done there related to the construction of a new emergency room at
the hospital.
The caller complained that the area of Sunset Drive between
Airline Highway and Memorial Drive has not been fully repaired
– that it was only partially repaved – since construction work
was done there to connect utilities as part of the project.

Hazel Hawkins Hospital’s contractor is completing work on the new E.R. The new facility is expected to have capacity to serve as many as 30,000 patients a year in 14,000 square feet of space, more than doubling the size of the existing emergency room. It will include seven private treatment rooms, three trauma bays, four negative-pressure treatment rooms for communicable diseases and a fast-track unit to speed up the visit for those with less-urgent matters
Public works streets official Marcelo Orta has been informed of the resident’s concern. Check back to find out how the city might respond.
