City officials used $90,000 in state-provided traffic congestion relief funds to repair segments of streets near San Benito High School that had sustained pretty severe damage over the years. A contractor recently finished the work to the roads.

Once the school year ended, work started at Richardson and Palmtag drives near the campus.

The damage had included potholes, weathering and cracking, according to a city engineering official. Contractors also added handicap-accessible ramps at each sidewalk corner.

City officials scheduled the repairs to take place after finals at the high school.
