Swing set at Veterans Memorial Park unusable
There were recently an array of upgrades at parks throughout the
city and county, but some swing sets are unusable right now at
Veterans Memorial Park due to a foundation issue.
San Benito County’s Public Works Administrator Steve Wittry told
residents at a parks meeting Tuesday that the swing sets on the
west end of the park are not in use. He explained how there is an
issue with the foundation that needs to be repaired and how the
plan is to have the contractor come out to do the work.

He explained how there is an issue with the foundation that needs to be repaired and how the plan is to have the contractor come out to do the work.

The foundation has to be re-laid and, in the meantime, the swing seats have been locked so kids can’t use them, he noted.

Local parks had received the upgrades through Prop. 40 funding allocated toward state and local parks systems. Voters approved the proposition in 2002, with nearly $1 billion going toward local park grants.
