The strange disappearance of a Hollister man who has been missing for nearly a week continues although he was reportedly sighted in Gilroy recently.
Investigators with the Hollister Police Department said they are still searching for Ralph Santos, 73, who has been missing since June 10.
Since then police said they have received several unconfirmed sightings of Santos in the Tenth Street area of Gilroy.
On Friday, police said they received one confirmed sighting of Santos eating at a Taco Bell in Gilroy.
“He reportedly appeared to be unharmed and alone,” Detective David Godoy said.
Concerned family and friends have been posting fliers throughout the area in hopes of finding Santos.
He is described as being 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds with light gray hair, police said.
Investigators said Santos was driving his maroon 2002 Kia Optima, license plate number 5BBT748, in Hollister at about 11 a.m. Tuesday.
He was also reportedly seen that day in the company of an unknown Hispanic male adult who is described as being about 5-feet 8-inches tall, with a medium build and having salt and pepper colored hair, police said.
The unknown man seen with Santos was reportedly driving an older model two-tone Geo Prizm.
Santos’ disappearance is considered to be completely out of character for him.
He not only neglected to pick up his granddaughter from school on June 10, he missed his granddaughter’s graduation the following day.
Santos’ family is increasingly concerned about his disappearance because he has a heart condition and they do not know if he has his medication with him.
Santos’ physician recently changed his heart medication and his family is not sure what kind of effect that may have on him.
Police want anyone who knows where Santos is located to call the department at 636-4330 and ask for the on-duty watch commander.
