Usually I try to ignore the ridiculous statements made about me in your newspaper, but I feel I must respond to the delusional Ignacio Velazquez and his recollection of a meeting the two of us, along with former Pinnacle reporter Kyle Hull, had at his restaurant regarding newspaper support three or so years ago for the proposed Performing Arts Center.

He wanted The Pinnacle to get behind the project and endorse it. I told him that it would be hard to get wholeheartedly behind endorsing a luxury project when there were so many basic human needs being unmet in our community. I specifically cited the Emmaus House. I suggested that as they begin to fundraise, they should raise the remaining funds necessary for completion (it was about $200,000 back then), then the rest could go to the arts. He didn’t like the idea. The meeting then ended.

I’m thankful that with so many bad memories in this town that I take notes and, in this case, had a witness with me. Remember Kyle, Ignacio? He remembers you AND the meeting.
