The Hollister City Council recently ratified the appointment of Carol Lenoir as a planning commissioner.

Lenoir, retired from the city planning department, was appointed at the Sept. 4 council meeting. She was the chosen appointment of Mayor Ray Friend and replaces former Commissioner Helen Ross, according to City Clerk Geri Johnson.

Lenoir is retired after a long career working in local planning offices, first for the county and then the city. For the city, she was a senior staff assistant who “helped a lot of people at the counter,” Johnson said.

Lenoir, meanwhile, also is one of the more vocal supporters of the 1 percent Measure E sales tax extension. On the November ballot, it would extend the Measure T sales tax another five years and keep the current levy at 8.25 percent.

Other planning commissioners include Gabriel Torres, Chris Alvarez, Charles Scott and David Huboi.
