This is what one of the LED lights look like at the Fourth Street crosswalk, similar to the one on Nash Road.

The city Friday reactivated the crosswalk on Nash Road near the high school that had continually malfunctioned.
The city spent about $35,000 in Transportation Development Act funds to complete the project. The LED lights in the crosswalk at Nash Road and Monterey Street have been continually malfunctioning and needed replacement before the new school year starts Aug. 18.
Crews had been working on the project for about two weeks, said interim Engineering Manager David Rubcic. It is one of three LED crosswalks in the city.
The public works department oversaw the July completion of a crosswalk at Fourth and Monterey streets near the courthouse, while officials expect an LED crosswalk on Sunset Drive near the hospital – similar to the prior, malfunctioning Nash Road setup – to go out soon as well.
The prior crosswalk installation at Nash Road and the one at the hospital were put in by Spot Devices, whereas the new crosswalks were put in by a company called Light Guard using different technology, Rubcic said.
