Dear Editor:

On Friday, June 13, 2003, I had a procedure performed on my back by Dr. Ashokan. Living in Salinas, this was my first visit to your beautiful Hazel Hawkins Hospital.

Upon my arrival, I was greeted with politeness and friendly smiles. From the check-in desk to the room where I was prepped for the procedure, the nurses never left my side.

They were attentive, caring and instrumental in assuring me that everything would be alright.

Upon completion of the procedure, I was wheeled back to the recovery room, where the nurses were right there checking me, making sure that I was being kept warm and comfortable.

Dear Editor:

We are friends of Mary Zanger who opposes our country’s intervention into Iraq.

But we cannot be silent when she accuses our nation of killing “many more innocent Iraquis than he did (Saddam Hussein).”

Let the record show that this was a butcher who murdered and tortured millions of his own people.

Your headline to her letter, “Who is Guilty in Iraq?” clearly shows your editorial bias on this subject.

Like many others, we also were troubled by the decision to invade Iraq unilaterally but once that die was cast we had to support our government and we are proud that we got rid of a malicious tyrant whom we hope is not in the arms of virgins in heaven.
