Spring is full bloom out here in South County these days. We’ve had some nice April showers and they’re predicting a few more for this week. Should keep the grass growing and the wild flowers blooming a little while longer! Easter Sunday sure ended up being a nice day.

Congratulations go out to John and Kyla Rianda on the birth of their brand new baby boy! Hardy Pasco Rianda arrived on Easter Sunday at 2:47 a.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz. and was 19 inches long. The pictures I’ve seen of him are absolutely adorable and I can’t wait to meet him in person. The Easter Bunny sure had a hard act to follow after that special delivery! Casey and Krista Sabin are still anxiously awaiting the birth of their baby who should be arriving any day now, too.

Congratulations also go out to Hec Hurley, JW Brewen, Lee Whitney and Don McCaslan on their win at the Clovis Ranch Rodeo last weekend. Each team member was awarded championship saddles and numerous other awards for their efforts. Lacy Bourdet and Cortney Bowers each participated on an all-girls team as well.

Many members of the California High School Rodeo Association will be participating in a multi-district high school rodeo this weekend at the Salinas Sports Complex in Salinas. The event begins on Friday with the cutting, followed by all the other rodeo action on Saturday and Sunday morning. There will be vendors, a silent auction and a chicken barbecue on Saturday.

Our condolences go out to the Jack Kirby family as he passed away this week. He was a great man who will be missed by many.

John and Susan Nino branded some more calves last Friday at the 72 Ranch in King City. Some of those helping out included Wyatt and Lacy Bourdet, Sam Swan, John Flook, Cash Robinson, Eric Isaacson, Nessen Schmidt, Ken and Colleen Sabin, Lee Whitney Vern Scattini, John and JW Brewen and me, Todd and Brody.

Don’t forget April 15 is quickly approaching; but since the 15 is on a Sunday this year, we have until the 17 to get our taxes postmarked.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or email me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
