Country Golf Club and honeymooned at Lake Tahoe.

Lanette Krystal Lanning and Cory Micheal Thomas were married July 20, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos. They celebrated with an evening reception at San Juan Oaks Country Golf Club and honeymooned at Lake Tahoe.
Lanette, daughter of Kurt and Mary Margaret Lanning of Hollister, graduated from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and is currently employed at William Hezmalhalch Architects, Inc.
Cory, son of Paul and Debbie Thomas of Hollister, graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and is currently employed at Northland Controls in Fremont.
The couple now reside in San Ramon.

Giavanna Lynn Marini
Giavanna Lynn Marini was born Sept. 30, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital to Michael and Michele Marini of Gilroy. She weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces.
HONORS
J.T. Watts
J.T. Watts, of Morgan Hill, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor presented by the Boy Scouts of America. To reach the rank of Eagle, scouts must earn several required merit badges and complete a community service project.
For his Eagle project, J.T. helped the Humanitarian Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by building shelving units for their supplies. The Humanitarian Center helps others worldwide by providing hygiene kits and school supplies to those in need.
J.T. is a graduate of the American School as well as a former student at Live Oak High School. He’s currently attending Brigham Young University, Hawaii. He enjoys water sports, skateboarding as well as other outdoor activities.
Tyler Bushman
Tyler Bushman, of Morgan Hill, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor presented in the Boy Scouts of America. To reach the rank of Eagle, scouts must earn several required merit badges and complete a community service project.
Tyler’s Eagle project consisted of supervising the planting of 15 oak trees in Nordstrom Park on East Dunne Avenue in Morgan Hill and received his Eagle Scout award Aug. 19.
Tyler has been active in scouting with Troop 709 in Morgan Hill for five years. One of the many activities that Tyler has participated in with his troop is a 50-mile hike to the top of Mount Whitney in the summer of 2006. He has participated in rock climbing, camped in the wilderness as well as the snow, surfed, ridden more than 100 miles on a bicycle, learned CPR and first aid, for a total of 25 merit badges earned. Tyler is a sophomore at Oakwood High School where he’s currently on the cross-country team. He’s a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Austin Harthun
Austin Harthun, of Morgan Hill, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor presented in the Boy Scouts of America. To reach the rank of Eagle, scouts must earn several required merit badges and complete a community service project.
Austin’s Eagle project was to rebuild an enclosed bus stop on Armsby Road in a rural part of Morgan Hill under the direction of engineer Gunnar Hafstad. Austin appreciated the help he received from Hafstad, his father, Peter Harthun, Jeff Piper and his friends in Troop 709.
Austin is a freshman attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
He has lived in Morgan Hill for the past nine years. He attended Burnett School, Martin Murphy Middle School, Sobrato High School and graduated from Live Oak High School. He participated in baseball, soccer, football and his favorite sport is lacrosse.
He’s an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has enjoyed being a part of the scouting program. One of his highlights of scouting was hiking to the top of Mount Whitney.
Trenton Laporte
Trenton Laporte, of Morgan Hill, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor presented by the Boy Scouts of America. To reach the rank of Eagle, Scouts must earn several required merit badges and complete a community service project.
Trenton’s Eagle project consisted of designing and building a brochure holder in the lobby of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to benefit the local addiction recovery program and the LDS Family Services Adoption Program.
He received his Eagle Scout award Aug. 19. Trenton is a member of Boy Scout Troop 709. He earned 21 merit badges and served as a leader in his troop.
Trenton was a member of the Associated Student Body during his junior and senior year at Live Oak High School. For the past two years, he has been in Zions Choir that travels and performs in the Bay Area. He served as president of the Frisbee Club at Live Oak High School.
Shashi Sarnaik
Mount Madonna School is pleased to announce that senior Shashi Sarnaik of Gilroy has been named a Commended Student in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. Earning this distinction signifies that a student scored in the top 5 percent nationwide of the more than 1.4 million students who took the 2006 PSAT.
“Mount Madonna has always been a place where students can thrive academically,” observed Shashi. “I know that personally, I can always depend on a teacher to help me in any of my academic pursuits.” Sarnaik is one of about 34,000 high school seniors across the country commended for their exceptional academic promise.
