Friends and supporters bow for a prayer by South Valley Community Church pastor Greg Quirke during a vigil for Sierra LaMar, 15, a Sobrato High school sophomore who disappeared Friday morning March 16 on her way to school.

Searches for missing Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar will resume Wednesday after the family and KlaasKids Foundation took last Wednesday off for the July 4 holiday.

Volunteers can register to search for the missing teen at Burnett Elementary School, 85 Tilton Ave. from 8 to 10 a.m. Searches will continue Saturday as well.

Sierra, 15, has been missing since March 16, according to authorities. Police think she was kidnapped and murdered by Antolin Garcia Torres, 21 of Morgan Hill, who was arrested May 22 by Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies. He has not entered a plea, and his next court date is July 31.

Sierra was a sophomore at Sobrato High School at the time of her disappearance.

Her kidnapper likely abducted her while she was walking to her school bus stop near the intersection of Palm and Dougherty avenues, authorities said.

Volunteers who want to help search must be at least 18 years old and have a valid photo ID.
