Four volunteers are needed to fill the open seats that will soon be available for the Gavilan College Measure E Citizen’s Oversight Committee.
Seats that will be open soon include two at-large representatives, a senior citizens representative and someone from a taxpayers group, according to a press release.
Voters approved $108 million in general obligation bonds for Gavilan College facilities by passing Measure E. Required by Proposition 39, the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee will be in charge of ensuring that the revenues from Measure E are spent as promised, according to the press release.
The committee’s role is to review and report on district spending of taxpayers’ money for construction and to provide a public accounting of the district’s compliance with legal requirements, according to the press release. The committee includes at-large representatives, representation from businesses, seniors, students, taxpayers and the Gavilan College Educational Foundation.
The committee meets quarterly at the Gavilan College campus in Gilroy.
