Measure T would increase Hollister’s sales tax from 7.25 percent to 8.25 percent, raising an estimated $3.5 to $4 million for the city’s general fund. City staff have blamed financial problems – many brought on by Hollister’s building moratorium – for staffing and service cuts in 2004 and 2006. A similar initiative, Measure R, lost 48 percent to 52 percent in 2006. In the pictures, Measure T supporter David Huboi walks the wet streets of Hollister on Saturday afternoon and talks with Jesse Ceja and Daniel Ruiz about the importance of the measure.
