Weekend rain welcomed in South County
Welcome back, rain! It sure was nice to get a nice little shot
of rain over the weekend. We got about .30 inches at our place on
Sunday while Tracie Eggleston reported .25 inches up in Lewis
Creek. I heard that February and March were supposed to be really
wet so we’ll see what’s in store for us in the next few weeks.
John Wooster finished up with his brandings last week as he
branded last Wednesday and last Friday. The Topo Ranch branded on
Saturday at the Mee Ranch, while Tim Griffin and Ed Strohn both
branded some calves last Saturday as well.

If you were planning on going to the San Benito County Cattlewomen’s Association Pedro Party on Feb. 5 (that’s what I wrote last week), DON’T!

I made a mistake in my column last week on the date; the real date for the Pedro Party is Feb. 18. I can’t imagine me having anything else on my mind when I wrote about the party the first time! Sorry for the misinformation. I hope nobody was actually planning on going on the 5th! Be sure to mark your calendars for Feb. 18. The party will be held at the Tres Pinos Hall beginning at 6 p.m. For more information, contact any Cattlewoman.

Condolences go out to the JW Brewen Family as they lost their good kids horse, Tejon, over the weekend. He was a great kids horse, one that they will surely miss. I’m sure they’ll find something to replace him soon enough.

If you’re a football fan, be sure to enjoy your last weekend of football this weekend. Only six more months to go until the new year begins! My football withdrawals will be kicking in by next week, I’m sure.

Thanks to everyone for your care and concern for Brody. He is definitely on the mend. We’re starting to butt heads over homework again, he’s starting to fight with his brother again and he’s trying to talk us into letting him enter the bull riding at the next rodeo in March (Not gonna happen!) At least we know he’s getting back to his old self again!

Birthday wishes go out to Nicki Bell, who celebrated her birthday Jan. 26. She didn’t want to go out to dinner and she didn’t want to cook so they celebrated with take out Chinese food. Happy birthday, Nicki!

Wyatt and Lacy Bourdet spent last weekend in Red Bluff at the annual Red Bluff Ranch Rodeo. Wyatt’s team consisted of himself, Chance Jackson and Frankie Martines. Although they didn’t have any luck, Lee Whitney did earn the all-around cowboy title for the weekend. I’m sure they all had a great time.

Have a great week, enjoy the Superbowl (Go Packers), and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
