Can anyone whistle up some rain?
Another week has come and gone and still no rain. The weather is
just crazy these days. The roads are as dusty as they are in the
middle of August and we’re only in the middle of January. The other
day we drove past a guy disking up a field and you could hardly
even see the tractor for all of the dust. Keep your fingers crossed
that the storm door opens up in the next few days. We need the
rain.

Birthday wishes go out to little Katie Brewen, who celebrated her 4th birthday last week. She had a few friends and family members over for cake and ice cream on her birthday. Birthday wishes also go out to Buddy Sans, who celebrated his 14th (yes, I said 14th!) birthday on the 18th. He celebrated by going bowling with some of his friends.

Several folks took advantage of the dry weather by branding their calves last week. Nessen Schmidt branded some small calves last Saturday and had all the kids rope. Some of those helping out there included Taylor and Hec Hurley, Andy and Wacey Barrington, Clay Avila, Lil, Mike and Sage Massey, Doug Forzani, Jo Ann Scattini, Nessen Schmidt Jr., Nathan Roth and me, Todd and the kids.

Billy Whitney and the Topo crew branded at the red corrals last Friday and last Sunday and Bill and Robin Rist branded at the Daniels’ corrals last Monday.

Our sincerest condolences go out to Marianne Madson and family on the loss of her stepfather, Jay, who passed away last Thursday at the age of 88. Services will be held in Paso Robles on Saturday. I’ll certainly miss seeing Jay at all of the girls’ sporting events as he was one of his granddaughters’ biggest supporters.

Congratulations to Sierra Jo Sans for winning the defensive player of the game award last Friday evening at the game against Greenfield. Sierra had a season high eight steals that night. Carolyn Madson was named player of the game. Way to go girls! The girls won that game handily by a score of 51-17. The girls lost in a heartbreaker last Tuesday night in Catalina. They played an awesome game but missed out on the win by losing 51-46. Just wait till we get Catalina at home, our girls will be ready for the win then.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
