I hope you all had a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend. The weather
was a little cool, but it was nice enough to be outside all
weekend.
Members of the Bitterwater 4-H Club presented a wreath at the
Memorial Day Services at the King City Cemetery on Monday. That is
such a nice service, something that everyone should make a point to
attend. So many people don’t even realize why we celebrate Memorial
Day anymore. To many young kids, it’s just another day off from
school. It’s very important that we teach the younger kids what
Memorial Day really is about, and to make sure we celebrate it
properly each year.

Members of the Bitterwater 4-H Club presented a wreath at the Memorial Day Services at the King City Cemetery on Monday. That is such a nice service, something that everyone should make a point to attend. So many people don’t even realize why we celebrate Memorial Day anymore. The kids sure needed a three-day weekend last week to help them recuperate from the fair. Part of going to the fair is having to go to school the Monday after the fair. That’s always a tough week for them as they haven’t had a chance to sleep in at all. They had a nice, long weekend to recover though. Now it’s on to shipping season and really early mornings!

The new date for the Ranch Rodeo, which was cancelled due to rain during the fair, will be on Sunday, June 11. The entries have been reopened since some of those previously entered will be unable to attend on the 11th, leaving spots empty that need to be filled. A new draw will be done on June 8th. You have until June 7th to enter. If interested, contact Casey or Vicky Sabin.

Jim and Betty Barrington hosted Bill Rist’s weekly church service at their house last Sunday. Next weekend church services will be at the home of Dorothy Nyswonger.

Congratulations goes out to Betty Barrington who entered and won several things at the fair. She received five Best of Show ribbons for her entries. She had blue ribbons all over her house!

The Strohn Family has started planning a vacation this summer to Gallop, New Mexico as Blaine qualified for the Wrangler Junior High School National Finals Rodeo in the Boys Goat Tying event. Blaine ended up fourth at the state-qualifying rodeo, which earned him the trip to Gallup. Congratulations and good luck Blaine!

Congratulations also go out to Cash Robinson who recently won another Nor-Cal Junior Rodeo Steer Riding event. Mom Ellie is quite proud of Cash, who is competing in the 11-13 year old age group even though he is only 10.

Bitterwater Tully School hosted its Spring Concert last Thursday at the school. The K-3 students each recited a poem of their choice, while the 4th- through 8th-graders each sang a song of their choice. Some of those attending from the community – besides all of the students’ family members – included Donna and Laurence Hansen, Kuulei Flores, Lynette Hurley and Virginia O’Connor. The countdown to summer is officially underway. There are less then 10 days left until summer! Hooray! Those sentiments will probably last until about mid July, then the countdown to school will begin again!

If your looking for something to do this weekend, the King City Riding Club will host it’s June gymkhana on Sunday, June 4th in the outdoor arena at the fairgrounds. It begins at 9:00 AM and will last through the afternoon.

Have a great week, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com.
