Time keeps flying by in South county
Have you ever wondered where the time goes? Seems like time is
just flying by these days. I guess that’s what happens the older we
get! Easter Sunday is this weekend, followed by tax day on April
15. The fair is right around the corner and before we know it,
it’ll be graduation ceremonies and summer break. Whew, when do we
ever slow down?

Have you ever wondered where the time goes? Seems like time is just flying by these days. I guess that’s what happens the older we get! Easter Sunday is this weekend, followed by tax day on April 15. The fair is right around the corner and before we know it, it’ll be graduation ceremonies and summer break. Whew, when do we ever slow down?

Amanda Davis hosted the monthly hot lunch at Bitterwater Tully School last week while the PTF hosted an impromptu bake sale during the hot lunch to benefit Virginia O’Connor. Some of those enjoying lunch and picking up some baked goods included Jeff and Jean Schmidt; Laurence and Donna Hansen; Lynette Hurley; Ruth Records and Roberta Oswald.

An account has been set up at Chase Bank (formerly known as Washington Mutual) to benefit Virginia O’Connor who lost everything she owned as her house burned to the ground last week in Bitterwater. While the Bitterwater PTF raised some money for her last week, many others are being very generous in their ways of helping Virginia out as well. If you’d like to contribute anything to Virginia’s account at Chase, just mention the Virginia O’Connor fund and they can assist you accordingly.

Bitterwater Tully School’s annual Spring Picnic and Easter Party will be held this Friday at San Lorenzo Park. The day will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon. All community members are invited to attend, but please RSVP to the school so they can have a head count.

The King City Riding Club hosted the annual Grady Lafferty Memorial Junior Rodeo last weekend at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. There is a very talented group of young kids coming up in the rodeo world, especially in the team roping end of it. Some of those competing in the junior rodeo from South County included: Sammi Simmons, Cheyenne Rey, Clayton Bacon, Taylor Jo and Tatum Hurley, Savannah Dodson, Ivy Hearne, Chesney Brouhard, Hailey and Sierra Stelling, McKenna Wood, and Sierra and Brody Sans.

Birthday wishes go out to Sierra Jo Sans who celebrated her 16th birthday last Sunday, April 5. Seems like she was just born yesterday and now she’s a teenager who can drive! Sierra celebrated by having a pedro party with some of her friends last Saturday night.

A few misprints were brought to my attention regarding last week’s column, seems that darn spell check on my computer changed some simple names on me! It was Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini, not Margin, who visited with Gracie Scattini last week, and the branding was at the MEE Ranch, not the Meek Ranch! Thanks for catching those errors, Mary Jane! I may have to start sending my columns to Mary Jane to proofread before I send them off to the paper!

Have a great week, an enjoyable Easter, and don’t forget to send off your taxes by next week, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
