Whew! The holidays are over
Happy 2009 everyone; I guess it’s safe to finally say that the
holiday season is finally behind us. I love the holiday season but
by the first of the new year, I’m ready to get back to some
normalcy. We’ve taken down our decorations and got the tree out of
the house so now it’s time to get back into the swing of
things.

Some South County schools are back in session now. Bitterwater Tully and Jefferson schools both started back this week. Branding season is going on right now and a few folks have taken advantage of the dry weather to get their calves branded. Vern and Jo Ann Scattini and J.W. and Candace Brewen branded their calves Friday. They each only had a handful so they let the kids rope them all. Some of those attending the brandings and staying for the barbecue included Frank and Cindy Johnson, John Brewen, John Nino, Ross Rianda, Bob and Ann Hansen, George and Sandy Rose, Mattie, Wacey and Tamra Barrington, Kasey, Taylor, Twyster, Tryan and Tatum Hurley, Cynnie and Kassie O’Connor, Cash Robinson and me, Todd and the kids.

John Wooster branded a handful of his calves last Thursday and some helping him out included the Brewens, the Sabins and Wyatt Bourdet, Lacy Taliaffero and Cash Robinson. Larry Homen branded some calves last Saturday.

The King City Mustangs will begin their league games this week, starting on Wednesday night against the Pacific Grove Breakers. The boys will host the Breakers at home while the girls will travel to PG. Friday night the girls will be at home and the boys will be traveling.
