Special Olympics torch to pass through Hollister, Gilroy

The Special Olympics Torch, the Flame of Hope, will be making stops in the South Valley Wednesday during the 2013 Law Enforcement Torch Run. 

The route will begin in Hollister, escorted by law enforcement personnel before arriving in Gilroy around 8:30 a.m. The torch will then depart from the Gilroy Police Department and head east towards Sixth and Monterey. The Gilroy S.W.A.T team will escort the torch along Monterey Road until it reaches the intersection of Monterey and Masten Avenue, which is estimated to be around 9:15 a.m. It will then be passed onto to the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Department to continue the journey towards Morgan Hill. 

The Flame of Hope will continue its tour around Northern California before reaching its final destination at the University of California, Davis’ Aggie Stadium on June 28th.
