One of more than 70 entries from the Women's Club of Hollister Student Art Contest.

The Women’s Club of Hollister held its annual Student Art Show Feb. 13. They received more than 70 entries from students in San Benito County. The contest was open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside in San Benito County or attend school in San Benito County.

The first and second place winners also represented the county in the Loma Prieta District Student Art Contest on March 11, in Redwood City, with first place winners from that regional competition moving on to the state level competition in May.

In addition, San Benito High School students won top honors in the National Education Association’s 90th anniversary of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. SBHS art teacher John Robrock entered student artwork in the competition, with three students receiving gold (top 7-10 percent of submissions) and silver keys (top 10-15 percent of all submission.) The gold key winners will go on to compete at the national level. Nick De Hoyas received two gold key and one silver key award. Cara Esteban received one gold key and one silver key award and Jeremy Hail received one gold key award.
