San Benito County supervisors will hold a special meeting in closed session at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to appoint an interim county administrative officer and to discuss recruitment of a permanent county administrative officer.
CAO Rich Inman announced his resignation Oct. 11, with a press statement issued by Board Chairman Jaime De La Cruz that afternoon announcing Inman’s departure. The press statement said Inman resigned effective Jan. 9. Management Analysts Margie Riopel and Catherine Shaw served in Inman’s place at the Oct. 16 supervisors meeting.
The supervisors called a special board meeting to discuss a closed session item listed as “public employee discipline/dismissal/release” on Oct. 16, after which it was announced that Inman had resigned.
De La Cruz delivered the press release that said the board will take prompt action to fill the vacancy, with plans to discuss options to replace Inman at its meeting Oct. 16.
Inman was hired in June 2006 as the assistant county administrative officer/internal services director. He was promoted in 2010 to county administrative officer when Susan Thompson retired from the position.
“The Board of Supervisors commends Mr. Inman for his years of service with the county,” the statement read.
After the meeting, Rivas said the supervisors want to “get the ball rolling and get a replacement.”
“As a board, I’m excited because it’s an opportunity to go after someone who is going to bring some change to our county, from a policy perspective,” Rivas said. “I hope because of the budget, we find a replacement soon.”
