Hollister – The Board of Supervisors will discuss budget priorities for the coming fiscal year at today’s meeting.

According to county staff, the supervisors’ priorities will guide department heads as they prepare their proposed budgets for 2007-2008. County Administrative Officer Susan Thompson has submitted a proposed list of priorities that’s largely unchanged from last year’s, except for doubling the general fund reserve from $5 million to $10 million and the general fund contingency from $1 million to $2 million.

The supervisors plan to approve an operating budget by July 1. Budget hearings are scheduled for August. After the hearings, the final budget will be approved.

The board meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30am today in the County Administration Building at 481 Fourth Street.
