The response to the article by Luke Roney about the organ for the Northside Mabie Center has been splendid. I had 15 calls at last count, offering either an organ no longer being used, or in three case funds to purchase a replacement.
I have accepted one that used to belong to Charlotte Melendy Berberick, an old time San Benito County resident-Willow Creek Ranch- which has two full keyboard manuals and a 20-note pedal board that I find useful for the type of music I play. It was installed at the nursing home on Monday.
I think “Char” as she was known would have been pleased. I used to help with their annual picnic and Memorial Day week ends when Vic Edmundson and I did a small service at their family cemetery, which can be seen from Highway 25 by looking to your left just before you make that small climb to the Bear Valley Fire Station.
