The San Benito High girls tennis team defeated host Alisal 5-2 last Thursday in Salinas.

The Lady Balers improve to 5-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League as a result of the victory, 8-5 overall.

In singles, San Benito’s Hayley Barker defeated Nicole Saldana 6-1, 6-2, while at No. 3, teammate Kristine Slavich downed Germaine Rabanal 6-2, 7-5. At the No. 4 spot, San Benito’s Audrey Marshall beat Jennifer Camacho 6-0, 6-3.

Alisal picked up a singles victory at the No. 2 position where Trojan Genevieve Urueta defeated Rachel Smith 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, Lady Balers Vanessa Casalegno and Chelsea Yoakum remained undefeated when they upended Esther Rios and Yusenia Lopez 6-1, 6-0, while San Benito’s No. 2 team of Erin Glasspool and Alex Triolo defeated Mary Laranjo and Jeanette Gayaga 6-1, 6-0.

The Trojans scored its second win at the No. 3 doubles slot, however, where Nubia Picazo and Ashley Collins beat Annie Tobias and Giana Brigantino 6-1, 7-5.

San Benito will host North Salinas Tuesday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister. Match time is 4 p.m.
