Editor,

My husband and I would like to thank Dorothy McNett for her contributions to the downtown business environment.

She worked long hours, rarely taking a day off to make her business a success. When you walked into her store Dorothy greeted you with a warm smile and was there to serve her customers!

The gift wares, when purchased, were beautifully wrapped and were appreciated by the recipient. Her cooking classes attracted local residents and created quite a following. People came from out of the area and discovered “our Dorothy,” and learned about Hollister through her popular TV show and the Internet.

Dorothy served the Downtown Association for years and did more to promote downtown Hollister than anyone I know. She hosted the Board for their early morning meetings, and always had hot coffee waiting and samples for us to taste. A big thank you.

Everyone was behind her and cheering her on, unfortunately the county and city shut down, no growth, and we all know what an impact that has had on our residents.

Two businesses will be closing their doors in the next few days. We need to support our local merchants!

Dorothy, good luck in the future, you have an entire community behind you.
