Dear Editor:

Due to the Free Lance newspaper, something is finally being done about the homeless situation in Hollister.

I believe Kollin Kosmicki and his in-depth coverage has been instrumental in bringing this problem to the forefront and that, in turn, has forced the action that is now being taken by our community leaders, as well as our state and local officials. It’s about time!

Hopefully it is not too late to get in on the Proposition 46 money.

Our local officials should have been looking into Proposition 46 as soon as it was announced.

Now let’s hope the officials will not forget about the mentally ill and the need for supportive housing for them. All of these programs are not only humanitarian, they are cost effective in the long run, as they help get people back on their feet and productive.
