After opening again for the Hollister Motorcycle Rally weekend after a four-month hiatus, The Vault owner Ignacio Velazquez said this week he plans to reopen the downtown restaurant for limited hours on weekends.

He expects to try to open this weekend and said the restaurant will open at 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It’ll also serve a breakfast crowd 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Velazquez said.

“Those have always been the peak times when we make money,” said Velazquez, of the restaurant at the corner of Fifth and San Benito streets.

He said the “big focus” this time around will be on banquets and special events – the restaurant hosted them in the past, but he hopes to expand on that.

Velazquez said he remains the owner of The Vault and its building – while shortly before the rally he had announced former restaurant general manager Jamie Ball would be taking over the business’ ownership. Velazquez, when asked this week, said that’s no longer the case.

He also had a deal fall through, after making an announcement in March, to have Country Rose Cafe move into the building. That restaurant remained at its 696 Fourth St. location.
