in San Benito County.
For years, we have heard about “globalization” and “international entities.” I never thought that much about it because “they” were “there,” wherever “there” is, and I was here, in Hollister. However, in the last several years, I have noticed “there” in San Benito County.
There are the “land trusts” that have the stated goal of returning one-half the country to its natural state where human beings would be off-limits. Last year, a small part of San Benito and Santa Clara counties was sold to a land trust. They also purchased easements on adjoining land. And to add insult to injury, the land trust received tax dollars, your dollars, to make the purchase.
Earthjustice has been active in our court system.
Even the anti-Israel hate group, Wheels-of-Justice, has been to town. See their Web site www.justicewheels.org. And the Hollister cell of the Women-in-Black has been active for years. They invited the Wheels-of-Justice to Hollister.
The non-government organizations are exerting tremendous influence and none of them were elected or have any accountability for their actions.
And the presidential candidates have gotten into the act. John Kerry has stated that any deployment of U.S. troops outside the United States should be under control of the United Nations. And Dennis Kucinich wants to sign the Kyoto Treaty on greenhouse gases and subject U.S. citizens to the control of the World Court in The Hague. George Bush wants to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, in effect abolishing our borders. Even Gov. Schwarzenegger is talking of granting drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens.
“There” is here. Scary. What has happened to individual responsibility or national identity?
