Last week the Free Lance ran a special story about San Benito
Foods. The story was only about the noise from the cannery.
For the life of me, I can’t figure out why nothing was said
about San Benito Foods’ sewer bill, $1.3 million as of two months
ago.
I’m sure they owe more by now. Ex-city manager George Lewis made
an agreement with San Benito Foods. I think they call those
”
sweetheart
”
deals.

If San Benito Foods is paying their workers, they must be making money and should pay Hollister what they owe.
Financially, Hollister needs that money. With $1.3 million, the city could hire the fire and police personnel that’s needed.
It seems like the new city manager and City Council may be giving San Benito Foods a pass without them paying the bill.
I question how many families in Hollister can go for two months or more, yet alone years, without paying their sewer bill? Just stop paying your bill and see how fast the city comes after you.
