Hollister – Three people were injured Wednesday night when a tractor-trailer rear-ended their pickup truck on Highway 156, delaying traffic for more than an hour.
The crash occurred at 3:20pm in the westbound lane of Highway 156 at the intersection of Fairview Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The three injured people were flown by two helicopters to San Jose area hospital, the CHP reported. CHP Officer Mike Steele Jr. said it was a major injury crash.
The CHP would not release the specific injuries, conditions or names of victims before press time Wednesday.
A white Nissan pickup truck carrying five people was stopped at a red light on Highway 156, Steele said. The driver of a westbound tractor-trailer lost control and rear-ended the pickup, he said.
Emergency crews directed traffic while the CHP investigated the scene of the crash.
Seat belts were being worn and alcohol was not involved, investigators said.
Conditions were overcast, dry and light.
