Dear Editor,

While attending our board of supervisors meeting on Jan. 25, I was very pleased with the good atmosphere. Watching a show with the same people for too long gets boring. I was glad to see new faces. I’d likes to commend the new board for its cautious ways.

As I said before, “you first have to learn and we can wait.” I’d like to commend Supervisor Don Marcus on bringing back the Hillside Ordinance. In my opinion it should have been thrown out just like our planning commissioners did. During all of the meetings, including the last one, the majority spoke very loud against it. To me, that’s a good reason to deny it. Going through this again will be nothing but confusion and is throwing away our tax payer money. Mr. Buchanan, an old pro, spoke clearly and in a very special democratic way. Supervisor Marcus also did a great job explaining the reason for bringing the ordinance back.

I feel that for anyone, especially the ones elected who try to shove things down our throat, things that have been condemned by the majority, a recall is appropriate. And if not, this kind of person should not ever be re-elected. This is only fair. I was surprised with Mrs. Kingman’s position. She’s a person that I understand owns property and believes we taxpayers have no rights to make our decisions. She mentioned being tired of hearing about Measure G. I am sure she never attended any of the meetings about the Hillside Ordinance because in all those meetings about 80 percent in attendance spoke against this ordinance.

In my opinion, what we need to do is revise the General Plan and throw away this nonsense ordinance. I feel we already have too many laws. We know that times change and new laws are necessary to accommodate these changes, but for God’s sake at just throw the old ones out. This way we will not have to work through paperwork two inches thick in order to get a permit or something else. If this was done, we could reduce the process cost, cause less friction and reduce the cost to everyone involved.

I was very disappointed with the response of our Farm Bureau President. I think he is on a different route. Only my opinion.

Peace be with you all,

Amadeu Lima, Hollister
