Joe Tonascia credited his emphasis on improved communication and accountability for an unofficial victory tonight for a seat on the San Benito County Water District Board.
With 69 percent of precincts reporting, Tonascia leads with 60.7 percent of the vote to Ken Perry’s 38.9 percent – or a margin of 392 votes to 251, according to unofficial results.
“It’s just the idea of better communication and being open and wanting to communicate with people and letting them know what’s going on, making it a two-way street,” Tonascia said in reaction to the preliminary results. “People are paying their tax dollars to that tax district, and they want to know they’re represented.”
Tonascia said his main focus will be on “making sure we have enough supply of water.”
