Both the San Benito boys’ and girls’ track and field teams defeated their respective opponents in Palma and Notre Dame on Thursday at Palma High School in Salinas, Baler coach Iran White said.

No scores or official results were reported at press time, however.

White mentioned the performance of Lucas Haro, who broke 20 feet in the long jump for the first time in his prep career. Meanwhile, Jose Castillo recorded a time of approximately 4:40 in the mile race and Jason Roascio clocked a hand-time of 22.6 in the 200 meters, the coach added.

San Benito will compete next at the 27th annual Bellarmine-Kiwanis Track and Field Classic on Saturday, otherwise known as the K-Bell Invitational. The meet will be held at Los Gatos High and is expected to start at 8 a.m.
