Hollister police Thursday arrested two suspects in a reported home burglary, according to police.
Police arrested 18-year-old Jesse Serna of Hollister and a 16-year-old male after a caller had reported seeing three suspects jumping a fence in the back of a residence in the first block of Park Street in Hollister, according to police.
The two suspects were booked on recommended charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy, with bail for Serna set at $70,000. The boy was booked into juvenile hall.
A third suspect remains outstanding as the investigation continues, according to police.
At about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a caller reported seeing the three suspects jumping a fence to the rear of a residence in the 00 block of Park Street, providing a description of the suspects. Sgt. Don Magnuson, who was the initial responding officer, found the rear window of the residence open and the window screen lying on the ground beneath it.
As all other Hollister police officers were involved in other calls for service, Magnuson asked for San Benito County Sheriff’s Office to help by positioning deputies around the residence. Magnuson saw a man matching the description of one of the suspects attempting to leave the area. He detained the man, who was later identified by the witness as one of the suspects, according to police.
While conducting an area check for further evidence in this case, Magnuson came upon the two other suspects, who were in the front yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Sally Street. Magnuson was able to capture one while the other fled. The witness also identified this suspect as one of the three involved, according to police.
It is unclear what was taken in the burglary, while a police spokesman could not be reached for additional comment.
