More than a dozen local musicians will be performing at DNA Lounge in San Francisco on Jan. 20 as part of a Battle of the Bands finale.

Smith Alley and Trophy Kids advanced to the finale along with six other bands to compete for $500 in cash, 20 hours of studio time and an opportunity to headline at the club. Judging is based on audience response and applause at the end of the show.

Trophy Kids and Smith Alley include students who have participated in the Battle of the Bands at San Benito High School. They said they are hoping to get local residents to support them at the finale. Trophy Kids refers to themselves as a “garage band located in the depths of Hell (Hollister)” that plays alternative rock. Smith Alley also plays alternative rock and has performed at Mars Hill Coffee House.

The DNA Lounge show is for all ages. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., at 375 Eleventh St., in San Francisco.
