Two men were apparently “randomly” attacked while walking on Gilroy’s north side Thursday evening.

The two men were walking about 9:15 p.m. Thursday along the 8200 block of Murray Avenue, near its intersection with Leavesley Road, when four Hispanic males accosted the victims, police said. The attackers had “a variety of stabbing instruments and tools” and they “beat and stabbed” the two men, according to a press release.

The two men, whose ages police did not disclose, then went to an undisclosed nearby hospital for treatment of their non-life threatening wounds, police said.

The two men were not wearing any clothing that would signify they were in gangs and police do not believe they are part of any gang, police said. Furthermore, police believe that there is no way the attackers could have perceived the men as rival gang members.

“It appears these victims were randomly selected by the suspects,” according to the police report.

Anyone with information on the incident can call police at 846-0350.
