For everyone who enjoys a light-hearted romantic comedy, the new movie “Two Weeks Notice,” currently playing at Premiere Cinemas, is the film for you.

In his directorial debut, Marc Lawrence does a good job in recreating the style and sense of the classic Hollywood romantic comedies. His 100-minute cinematic creation is a nice escape for movie fans looking for something between the parade of heavy winter dramas and the smattering of explosion-filled action/adventure films.

One of the strengths of “Two Weeks Notice” is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It doesn’t try to hit you over the head with weighty foreshadowing or intricate visual montages. This film is a full-on romance sprinkled with nice little comedic moments.

The other strength of the film rests with the on-screen chemistry between Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock. Bullock, who is also the movie’s producer, is a perfect fit with Grant, a veteran of the romantic comedy genre. Their on-screen dialogue flows easily and so comfortably that it’s easy to believe that they’re romantically linked.

Although much of the plot is easy to predict, it doesn’t matter because the script is fresh enough that the audience still roots for the two of them to work out their differences.

The plot revolves around Bullock’s character, Lucy Kelson, a Harvard-educated attorney and social activist who goes to work for the incredibly rich real estate mogul George Wade (Grant), refusing to give up her activist leanings.

Lucy hopes to reshape George’s capitalistic goals to help her more humanistic causes, but she ends up becoming his best friend and confessor, who continually helps him make it throughout his day both personally and professionally.
