A wildfire that erupted close to Cienega Road southeast of Hollister on Monday afternoon was 60 percent contained at 600 acres as of 6:45 a.m. Thursday, according to Calfire.
Plumes of the smoke were especially visible from many miles away on Monday and Tuesday. Calfire reported the fire started at about 4 p.m. Monday.
The fire is burning in an area southeast of Hollister Hills near Paicines, according to the Calfire incidents web page.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. When the first firefighters arrived, the blaze was already 30 to 45 acres, according to a statement.
