Cattle were getting shade in June in the area where a mountain lion was witnessed.

Brigantino Park reopened after a brief closure Friday.

Brigantino Park on Hollister’s west side had been closed for about an hour due to a maintenance worker’s discovery of a suspicious device, according to the Hollister Police Department.

Capt. David Westrick said the closure was a precautionary measure.

It is the second time police have closed the park in five days. On Sunday, police closed Brigantino Park after residents witnessed a mountain lion there. A cougar returned Monday as well.

According to a police statement:

Brigantino Park is now open. The device turned out to be PG&E equipment at the park.

To recap – A maintenance worker found a suspicious device in the park this morning around 8:30 am. The park was closed immediately.

A general evacuation of nearby businesses has been lifted. San Juan Hollister Road has been re-opened.
