Hollister – Local elections officials anticipate all remaining votes from the June 6 election to be counted before the day is out, thus revealing the final outcome of the previously too-close-to-call district attorney and District 4 supervisorial races.
While most of the votes were counted on election night, county elections workers have been verifying and counting more than 3,000 additional absentee and provisional votes.
Absentee ballots turned in at the polls must be checked against county voting rolls before they can be counted.
As of Wednesday, district attorney candidate Candice Hooper Mancino still had enough of a lead, with 50.48 percent of the vote, to take the office without going through a November run-off.
In the District 4 supervisorial race, incumbent Reb Monaco is still leading with nearly 37 percent of votes cast. Opponent Tracie Cone is trailing with 32.61 percent. If the margins hold up, Monaco and Cone will face off in the November general election.
