Around the Water Cooler

Bill Mifsud: “Here we go again. Big Brother telling us what we should do. Again it is a personal choice and the government has better things they should be doing, like monitoring the food supply when it comes to where imported food has come from.”

Jae Eade: “I think not. The USDA is supposed to promote agriculture, meat production is a large part of the ag industry and produces the most nutritious, safe, affordable protein in the world.”

Richard Place: “I’m for making this an earmark on a NO-Tax Tuesday Bill.”

Louise Ledesma: “Yes, People should not eat red meat more than 2 or 3 times a week for their health. This would reduce heart disease, type 2 diabetes, colon cancer and lower body weights and BMI. Fewer cattle would also be better for the environment by reduce greenhouse gas and water use.”

Nants Foley: “Raised in a Roman Catholic home we had meatless Fridays! It was awful. Fish sticks or tuna casserole…blech! Having finished whining about that I now eat more meatless meals than not. But I don’t want my tax dollars going to this effort. Less government, please!”

Ruth Erickson: “Watch out! The ‘Food Police’ are on the war path again! If a person wants to give up eating meat on a Monday or any other day, that’s their right to do so, or not! With so much of this country suffering from drought conditions, grain prices will rise and meat costs in turn, will increase. This will necessitate many people to buy meat less often, so the ‘food police’ won’t need to worry about our health and giving up meat once a week!”

Steve Staloch: “Give me a break. What’s next; tater-totless Tuesdays, sugarless Saturdays or heaven forbid, wineless Wednesdays? Another example of the “illusion of activity” our government has mastered.”

Richard Herrera: “Yes I am. Americans should eat healthier.”
