Editor,

I have been reading articles about what the best location for the 2006 Rally would be. In my opinion, the absolute best location for this event is Bolado Park. It is definitely large enough, it has a stage for concerts and events, it has a place for vendors and it has a place for hill climbing. So what is the problem?

I am not a politician nor a high-paid consultant, however I have been to other rallies. These rallies are all very successful, so why not in Hollister? Bolado Park is far enough out of town so the people who are afraid or who do not enjoy this type of event don’t have to be a part of it.

I don’t know if the City Council realizes how this benefits are community (if it were run the right way). I think the issue that was raised about the noise factor at Bolado Park is an absolute joke. We have truck pulls and demolition derbies during the fair and those make extremely loud noise.

Again, my husband and I have been to many successful rallies and all we hear is how unorganized and harassing the Hollister event is: Lines out the door for the vendors to pick up their packets, and then being told to go somewhere else to pick them up, bikers being pulled over for going two inches over the white line at the downtown stops, bikers being pulled over for handlebar issues. Come on! Security is an absolute must, of course, however direct the attention to more serious issues.

I truly believe that people will be coming to Hollister with or without a rally, so why not consider the best place for the event: Bolado Park?!
