Hollister – A Hollister woman was molested while jogging at the Rancho San Justo Middle School track Monday night after a man jumped out of the bushes, groped her and ran off, according to police.

The 28-year-old woman, who was at the school with her two brothers, was at the far end of the track around 9:10pm when the lights at the baseball field shut off, leaving her jogging in the dark, according to Hollister Police spokesman George Ramirez.

Right after the lights turned off a man jumped out of the bushes, came up behind the woman, reached under her shirt and grabbed her breasts and buttocks, Ramirez said.

He ran off, and no description of the man was available, Ramirez said.

While police are still investigating the incident, Ramirez offered safety tips for all residents:

Don’t jog alone if at all possible

Don’t jog after dark, but if you do, wear reflective clothing

Carry a whistle or some type of object to draw attention if yourself if need be

Vary your route

Jog away from bushes or places where people can hide

If you do go to a secluded area make sure a friend or family member knows where you’re going

Always be aware of your surroundings
