The Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Women’s Center is finished and ready to be seen by the public.
The community is invited to an open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 911 Sunset Drive. The event will feature an opportunity to meet obstetrical physicians and nursing staff as well as for facility tours, giveaways, free health screenings and a face painter and balloon artist for children.
According to an announcement on the open house:
The three-story Women’s Center will house childbirth services and women’s medical diagnostic services. The 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility features a beautiful two-story atrium lobby, and families will be admitted to one of 13 “ Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum” rooms. Each room has a private bathroom and furnishings designed for the family to remain with mom and baby. The Center will be equipped with a full-service operating theater should a cesarean section be necessary. A state-of-the-art operating room will meet the highest standard of care. A newborn nursery is available if needed. The second floor will house the McCullough Resource Library, physician resting rooms and a high tech Women’s Diagnostic Center with mammography, 3D & 4D ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy, echocardiography and bone density testing services. Construction of the Women’s Center is majority funded by Measure L, a property bond passed by San Benito County voters in 2005.
