A man found in the parking lot of a Hollister mortuary Sunday morning apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

The body’s discovery was at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot at the Black-Cooper-Sander Funeral Home, 363 Seventh St. An employee of the business found the man in a pickup truck, said. Sgt. Dan Winn of the Hollister Police Department.

Police believe the man was in his early 80s. A spokesman for the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, which acts as coroner, could not be reached immediately to confirm the person’s age and city of residence.
