Editor,

My name is Ceasar Tony Montoya, I’m 26 and a current resident of Denver, Colorado.

I lived in Gilroy for 10 years and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1997. It brings me great pride to see that students continue the great tradition of voicing their opinions politically and being involved in social justice causes. This country would crumble if anti-immigrant bills were signed into law such as HR4437.

I was a participant in Gilroy High School’s Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA) Club and had the opportunity to network with college and high school students across the country.

I applaud these students for taking a stand and hope that our students continue their involvement as this is an election year and they should seize the opportunity to impact changes that will effect generations to come.
