Five young competitors in the Hollister’s Got Talent 2012 contest took home accolades July 14.

Michelle Rodarte, of Mini Max Storage, again hosted the event at City Life Christian Center.

The winners this year included Jezza Mae Lopez, 17, for most talented singer in the young adult division; Leah Overman, 12, most talented singer in the children’s division; Noah Gutierrez, most talented dancer in the children’s division; Jakob Flores, most talented musician in the children’s division; Jonathan Melendez, most talented beat boxer and Kaleb Askew, most multitalented. Askew composed his own song to sing and played along on his guitar for his performance.

Sammy Ramirez, of JJ’s Dance Studio, emceed the show.

“Sammy really engaged the audience and his enthusiasm really pumped up the crowd,” Rodarte said.

There were about 300 audience members to watch the two dozen performers. Other contestants included Zyllah Campos, Lacie McDermott, April Curnutt, Marissa Bautista, Alanah Martinez, Destiny Guillen-Perez, Jeff Bernaldez, known as J. Beat from T.E.A.M Elite, Nicholas Hernandez, Vincent Hernandez, Gabriela Orosco, Kallista Rodarte, Dance team Titanium included Lidia and Yazmin Rodriguez, Kassandra Zarate, Carolina and Kayla Fraire and Camaxtli Torres.

The local business that helped make the event a success included City Life Christian Center, Hollister Boxing and Fitness, Eight Ball Bail Bonds, JJ’s Dance Studio, Hollister Vikings, D.P.C., Premiere Cinemas, The Justice League Neighborhood Action Council Youth Group and CMAP. The show will be aired on local channel 20.

“I can’t wait to plan our next year’s show,” Rodarte said. “These performers get better every year and really inspire others in our community to follow their gifts, talents and passions.”
